since Brand New came around and given both Manchester Orchestra and Brand New put there newest albums right around the same time and both are equally brilliant i have to say that I am Like a Virgin Losing A Child is played more on my Ipod then The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Of Me the album to me is absolute Brilliance....deep....and emotionally demanding
Honestly, this is one of those albums I can listen to straight from beginning to end. I never feel like skipping a song-when I have it just felt 'incomplete'. Bottom line it will always be an all-time favorite of mine, and I only have about 3 of those in my collection.
This album is a musical journey exploring the different characters in Andy Hull's mind. The album commences with a bang and does not let up until the end. Two words to describe the album would be intense and fragile, because through all the layers of harsh guitars, pounding drums, carefully placed keyboard riffs, smooth bass lines, and gut-wrenching vocals there lies a certain fragility, as if it is ready to break but you know deep down that it never will. It is an album where you can just sit down with a pair of headphones and listen to the entire work of art. Inside it gives you this specific feeling because it feels as if it is being played specifically for you, but the specific feeling is different for everyone. "You can't believe without bleeding" is the final thing said on the album right before the rest of the instruments fade out and the album ends gently with one guitar playing softly in the distance. To me, this album will never get old and in 30 years i hope to pass it down to my children and tell them how much it meant to me when i was a child.
Is the most perfect song with the most perfect lyrics and I can never tire of it. It's pure genius and I can't thank you guys enough for writing such a beautifully orchestrated piece into my life. xx
Parts of this album were a sound track to my childhood. I'm 40 and haven't felt this type of emotion in a while. 'Sleeper 1972' & 'I can feel your pain' pierced me like an ice pick. The simplicity, raw vulnerability, honesty, and emotion. All I can say is thank you.

Powerful, crushing, painful, beautiful

Re:Colly Strings
Whenever I hear this song I bawl like a baby.
It is honestly one of those songs that touches your heart in the right way by putting the most simple words together and making it magical.
"you're the reason I love losing sleep" - only a mastermind could come up with this.
andy hull is without a doubt, the Einstein of music itself.
